There is no better place to begin understanding the rich history of Southern Indiana than the Harrison County Discovery Center. This immersive experience explores the most of the historic sites in southern Indiana from the pioneer days of Daniel Boone to the Civil War. Families will also enjoy learning about the vast network of caves and caverns in southern Indiana as well before heading out to see them with your own eyes. Harrison County also offers many of the first historic sites in Indiana.
A lot of history has happened in or around the city of Corydon. The town hosts the original Indiana state capitol and the Constitutional Elm, where our first state constitution was signed.
Of course, you don't miss the Battle for Corydon Memorial Park, the site where 450 members of the Harrison County Home Guard attempted to delay Morgan's 2,400 Confederate soldiers as they marched across Indiana. This park commemorates the only Civil War battle fought on Indiana soil.
